Zardari to get guard of honour

Islamabad, Sept 7:Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is all set to get a farewell guard of honour to mark the end of his Constitutional term in the Presidential House on Sunday, media reports said.

"President Asif Ali Zardari will be given a farewell guard of honour to mark the completion of his Constitutional term in the Presidential House on Sunday, adding a new chapter in the democratic history of Pakistan," Geo News repoerted.


He is the first elected president to complete the five-year-term in the south asian nation.

"The activities of President Asif Ali Zardari as the Head of State will formally come to an end following the ceremony of farewell guard of honour by the smartly turned out contingent of the armed forces in the President’s House on Sunday. President Zardari will be referred to as ‘former president’ from the midnight of Sunday," the Pakistan based news channel reported.

Zardari will attend the oath taking ceremony of Pakistan\'s newly elected President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain on Monday, reports said.

Zardari on Saturday reportedly said he does not wish to become the Prime Minister of the country.
