Dhaka, 14 August 2022: The Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates at the end of this month.

This season will be in T20 format. The T20 captain of the Bangladesh team has been changed in view of the Asia Cup. BCB announced Shakib Al Hasan as the captain in a press conference on Saturday. A 17-member squad has also been given for the Asia Cup.

Hard hitter batsman Sabbir Rahman has regained his place in the team. Sabbir last played T20 for Bangladesh against Afghanistan in Chittagong in September 2019. After about three years, he got a call to the team. All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin is also back from injury.

Soumya Sarkar was likely to return like Sabbir-Saifuddin. He was also discussed for a long time to bring him back to the T20 team. However, the left-handed batsman did not get a chance this time.

Liton Das and Shariful Islam have been dropped from the squad for the latest T20 series against Zimbabwe due to injuries. Munim Shahriar and Nazmul Hossain Shanto are out. Meanwhile, experienced Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the T20 team after rest.
