Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 26: Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by a huge margin of 88 runs in the second ODI held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The Tigers have confirmed the three-match ODI series with one match left.

As soon as the Tigers won, they touched the glory of being the first team in the World Cup Super League to score 100 points. Bangladesh have topped the points table as well as securing 100 points in the Super League by beating Afghanistan.

Liton Das's century and Mushfiqur Rahim's half-century helped Bangladesh scoring a big total of 306 runs. Chasing 307, the Afghans were all out for 218 runs in 45.1 overs. As a result, the host Bangladesh won the series with one match left.

After this victory, Tamim Iqbal's team rose to number one with 100 points in 10 wins in 14 matches in the Super League. England, who are at number two, have 95 points from 15 matches. If Bangladesh win the remaining match against Afghanistan on Monday, they will increase the lead from the world champions England in the league.

Taskin Ahmed was great with the ball. There were two maidens in the spell of his ten overs as he gave only 31 runs and took the wickets of two half-centurions Rahmat and Najib. Besides, Shakib took two wickets for 38 runs. Mostafiz, Shariful, Mehdi Miraj, Mahmudullah and Afif shared the remaining five wickets.

Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said, "I think 260 runs will be enough to win the match." But, Liton-Mushfiqur's batting helped Bangladesh surpassing the captain's demand and scored 46 more runs.
