Bangladesh cricket team, coaches and supporting staff test Covid-19 negative

Dhaka, October 10: The Bangladesh cricket team, coaches, supporting staff and groundsmen- a total of 126 people- who underwent Covid-19 tests, returned negative results.

The cricket board had selected a pool of 45 cricketers and six standby players, keeping in mind the prevailing Covid-19 situation.

The tests were conducted on Friday.

BCB sports physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury said none of the 126 members tested positive, however, two staff at Sonargaon Pan Pacific Dhaka Hotel, where the team is presently residing, are Covid-19 affected.

Meanwhile, the players will take part in the BCB President's Cup, a three-team 50-over tournament to commence from October 11.

According to reports, the tournament will have cash prizes for the winners, runners-up and the man of the match performances.

With the tournament, competitive cricket will resume in Bangladesh after over 200 days.
