Bangladesh win by 38 runs to register their first-ever victory on South African soil

Centurion, South Africa, March 19: Beating Proteas by 38 runs, Bangladesh picked up their historic first-ever victory on the South African soil.

Bangladesh threw a target of 315 runs and bowled out the Proteas for 276 runs in 48.5 overs. Tamim Iqbal led Bangladesh cricket team left the ground with a victory of 38 runs.

After the batting storm by Shakib-Rabbi, Mehedi Hasan Miraj, Taskin Ahmed and Shariful Islam shook the Protea camp with ball. Miraj was the most successful bowler against the Proteas with taking four wickets. Taskin Ahmed broke the hosts' waist with three wickets, and Shariful Islam took two wickets, bringing break-through at an important time. Earlier, Bangladesh did not win any match against Proteas in any format on the soil of South Africa.

Bangladesh faced Proteas on South African grounds nine times. But they never tasted victory.

This time, before leaving the country, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and coach Russell Domingo said they wanted to win at least one match. Russell Domingo said he was hoping for something that had never happened before on South African soil. In the end, Bangladesh did it in the first match of the series at Centurion's Super Sports Park, and picked up a historic win.
