Comilla beat Barishal by 1 run to become BPL 2022 champions

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 19: At a time, Fortune Barishal needed just 45 runs off 43 balls with eight wickets in hand. Chris Gayle and Nurul Hasan Sohan were the two batsmen set at the crease. But the star-studded team lost the match from this stage. Shakib Al Hasan's team also lost the title with the match.

Comilla Victorians scored only 151 runs in a batting-friendly wicket. Then again Saikat Ali's torment with the bat. However, Comilla stopped Barisal at 150 runs and won the thrilling final by 1 run.

Comilla won the match on Friday (February 18) and got the title for the third time in eight editions of the BPL. Excluding the last part of the match, Barisal played the whole match with effect. Comilla was stopped at just 151 runs, even in a batting-friendy pitch. Barisal did not have a good start after while chasing 152 runs. Barishal batsman in form, Munim Shahriar, returned for a duck after playing seven balls. Then Saikat started hitting big shots. He made a storm with the bat by making Chris Gayle, who won the title of batting monster, a spectator on the non-striker end.

Barisal scored 51 runs without losing any more wickets in the power play. Shortly after, Saikat scored his first fifty of the tournament. He completed his half century in just 26 balls. Although he could not pull the innings later. Left-arm spinner Tanvir's ball was caught by Imrul Kayes and Saikat returned to the dressing room. But, Bravo scored only one run and Shant was out for 12 off 15 balls. Barisal, which lost seven wickets, needed 10 runs to win in the last over. When 3 runs were needed in the last ball, Mujib Ur Rahman was run out for the second run. Comilla won the thrilling final by one run and bagged the title for the third time.
