Cricket: Gemcon Khulna win Bangabandhu T20 Cup

Mahmudullah Riyad's Khulna scored a competitive 155 runs in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Chattogram skipper Mohammad Mithun.

Riyad, who bagged the Man of the Match in the final game, scored 70 runs off 48 balls.

Chasing 156 runs to win the trophy, Chattogram managed 150 runs while falling short by five runs against a displined bowling attack.

Coincidentally, Chattogram, the most dominant team in the group stage, won seven out of their eight games in the first phase.

However, they lost the qualifier to Khulna, eventually losing the title after faltering against the same opponent in the finals.

Mustafizur Rahman was declared the player and bowler of the tournament for his 22 scalps.

Liton Kumar Das (393 runs) was declared the best batsman.

Both were part of the Gazi Group Chattogram team.
