Dhaka, Juy 27: Liton Das could not bat in any of the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe due to injury. This time the opener is not playing in the five-match T20 series at home against Australia. Das has cited 'personal reasons' behind his decision to opt out, BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan said.

It was reported on Monday that Liton will return back to Bangladesh early after a member of his family fell ill.

Bangladesh cricketers will not return home from Zimbabwe tour. They will enter the Australia Series Biosecurity directly in Dhaka. Liton has to meet his family back in the country. He will be unable to play in the Australia series due to being out of the bio-security bubble.

Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim opted out of the Zimbabwe tour early and returned back to Bangladesh to be with his parents, who tested positive for the coronavirus. It was earlier confirmed that Tamim Iqbal was not available due to injury.

"Liton wants to go back home to visit a sick member of his family. He will not be in the first two T20s for this reason. And if anyone wants to meet his family member, there we have nothing to say," Akram Khan said.

The first match of the Bangladesh-Australia series will be played on August 3. The next four matches are on August 4, 6, 7 and 9.

The Aussies will play 5 T20 matches in a week with Bangladesh. Every day-night match will be played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Each match will start at 6 pm.

The Australian cricket team is now in the West Indies. They are playing a three-match ODI series after playing T20 matchs there. After that the Australian team will come to Dhaka on a chartered plane. They will come to Dhaka and stay in their rooms at Hotel Sonargaon for a three-day quarantine.
