Cricketer Nasir trying to return to the national team to fulfill wife's wish

Dhaka, September 16: Nasir Hossain, the one-time regular face of Bangladesh, has been out of the national team for almost three and a half years now. It is heard every season that he is trying to return to the national team, but has not been able to make a comeback yet to due to lack of form.

This time, Nasir, the one-time Mr. Finisher, is trying to return to the national team to fulfill the wishes of his wife Tamima Tammi. Nasir got married last February. After the marriage, his wife said that she wanted Nasir to return to the national team.

Domestic cricket has been jeopardised to an extent due to the coronavirus for almost a year and a half. But next month is going to be a long range cricket national league. Nasir is trying to return to the national team by doing well in these domestic cricket tournaments as per his wife's wishes.

Speaking to the media in front of the academy building in Mirpur on Wednesday, the question came up about the will of Nasir's wife. He replied, "Of course I will try. As long as I play cricket, I will try to return to the national team. This is the dream of all players. My dream is to come back to the national team."

Despite not being in the national team for almost three and a half years, the number of Nasir's fans and well-wishers is not small. Nasir wants to return to the national team to repay their love. The all-rounder thanked the fans and asked for more prayers.

"I want to repay their (fans') love by returning to the national team," he said. "All I can say is that they have always supported me. I wish their blessings. Inshallah, I will come back to the national team."

Asked what he was doing to make a return, Nasir said, "There is no real option for training to return. The biggest thing is that I am working more on fitness. Since for pandemic we are not getting wickets to practice that way. I believe we will get wickets now. Of course, I will practice batting and bowling both."
