Dhaka, February 22: Former National Selection Committee member Habibul Bashar has been appointed as the new head of women's wing by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The former captain of the national team performed this duty after a meeting in the presence of women's wing chairman Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel at Mirpur Sher-i-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Nadel and women's team captain Nigera Sultana Jyoti welcomed her after officially taking charge.

Bashar has been part of the national selection panel since 2016.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin's tenure on the selection committee officially ends on February 28.

Zainul Abedin has been replaced by Gazi Ashraf Hossain and Hannan Sarkar in place of Bashar.

Bashar was earlier on the women's wing selection panel before becoming a member of the men's selection panel in 2016.

According to BCB sources, former chief selector Minhajul will be given important duties in the tournament committee.
