Dhaka, February 22: Chandika Hathurusingha has taken over as the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket men's team.

He reached Dhaka on Monday and took part in the team practice session on Tuesday.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed the Sri Lankan as the head coach for the next two years.

In his first tenure, Bangladesh tasted several historic victories at home and abroad, including a famous victory over England in the 2015 World Cup and series wins against Pakistan, India and South Africa.

Hathurusingha was seen talking to key players, including Tamim Iqbal, Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam, during practice at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

However, he has not yet spoken to the media. A press conference is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, where the head coach will address the media and discuss his plans for the team.

The Bangladesh team is preparing for the three one-day and three-match T20I series against England starting from March 1.
