ICC Women's T20 WC Qualifier: Bangladesh beat Ireland in Final, crowned champions
Sports Correspondent, Abu Dhabi, Sept 26: After winning the semi-final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier, Bangladesh have already qualified to play in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa next year. The team, on Sunday, lifted the title at the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier after beating Ireland in the thrilling final by seven runs in Abu Dhabi.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first and managed to score 120 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Bangladeshi opener Fargana Hoque Pinky scored 61 runs off 55 balls. Apart from Pinky, only Rumana Ahmed (21 off 20 balls) managed to make double digits as Ireland produced an eye-catching bowling display.
Chasing 121, Ireland scored 113 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, and they eventually fell short by seven runs.
For Bangladesh, Rumana Ahmed took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs, while Shanjida Akther Maghla, Nahida Akter, and Shohely Akhter got two wickets each.
