Taunton, June 17: Bangladesh shocked West Indies with their majestic batting as Shakib Al Hasan (124*) and Liton Das (94*) remained unbeaten till the end as they helped their side register a seven-wicket victory here on Monday.

After West Indies scored a massive 321 runs for the loss of eights wickets in their 50 overs, it seemed very unlikely that Bangladesh will completely outplay them in the second half of the game.

However, Bangladesh batsmen played sensibly and kept hammering the balls outside the park at the time needed as the South Asian side reached 322 runs by losing three wickets with 51 balls to spare.

Tamim Iqbal (48) Soumya Sarkar (24) contributed with their willows and provided Bangladesh with the much needed start.

Bangladesh have already defeated South Africa in the tournament and this was their second major victory in the 2019 edition of the tournament.

Andy Russell and Thomas picked one wicket each for West Indies but most of them struggled infront of the massive hitting that the cricketers unleashed at the park on a cloudy day.

Chris Gayle, who bowls rarely now, gave away 22 runs in two overs.

Gabriel, Holder and Cottrell all gave away runs without tasting success.

However, it was Shakib who earned appreciation for his performance for his side on Monday.

He hit 16 boundaries in his knock while Liton gave him strong company and contributed eight boundaries and four sixes in his quick-fire knock of 69 balls.

Earlier, riding on Shai Hope's well played 96 runs innings and Hetmyer's 50, West Indies piled up 322 runs on the scorecard.

Mohammad Saifuddin and  Mustafizur Rahman picked up three wickets each.
