Shakib first verbally cancelled the contract with Betwinner on Thursday afternoon after a stern warning from the Cricket Board. After agreeing to BCB's conditions, he informed the matter in a letter. In the letter, Shakib mentioned that he was cancelling the contract.
Confirming the news of receiving Shakib's letter, Jalal Yunus, chairman of BCB's cricket management department, said, "He (Shakib) has given us a letter, informing us that he is cancelling the contract with Betwinner."
