Shakib unavailable for Sri Lanka series, uncapped Aliss chosen in T20 team

Dhaka, February 14: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the first two matches of the three-match T20 series and ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Former captain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did not have a place in the T20 and ODI teams.

Veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah scripted a comeback to the T20 side, last playing a 20-over international in the 2022 Asia Cup.

In-form wicketkeeper-batsman Enamul Haque Vijay, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam and opening batsman Mohammad Naeem have also returned to T20I.

Opener Rony Talukder, middle order batsmen Shamim Hossain and Afif Hossain have been dropped from the T20 team.

Meanwhile, uncapped Aliss Al Islam has been called up for the Sri Lanka series.

This off-spinner is having a great season for Comilla Victorians in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.

However, the experienced Tamim Iqbal did not have a place in the ODI team.

The series between Tigers and Lankans will start with T20.

Three T20 matches will be held in Sylhet on March 4, 6 and 9.

After that, the three ODIs will be held at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on March 13, 15 and 18 respectively.

After that, the teams will return to Sylhet to play the first test which will start from March 22, after which the teams will finish the tour with the second test.
