Dhaka, August 7: In a first, Bangladesh has defeated Australia for the third time in a row in a cricket match, thereby taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five match series. By virtue of their third consecutive win, Bangladesh has also won their first bilateral T20I series against the visiting Aussies.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Mahmudullah Riyad's men scored 127 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. The skipper top scored for the hosts.

Mahmudullah's 52 runs off 53 deliveries was by no means an acceptable T20I innings, but in the context of the match, made all the difference. He played according to the merit of the ball on a sluggish track, as others failed to get a move on.

Barring Shakib Al Hasan (26), Afif Hossain (19) and Nurul Hasan (11), none of the other Bangladeshi batsmen, apart from Mahmudullah, could score in double digits.

For Australia though, debutant Nathan Ellis picked up three wickets, incluidng Mahmudullah. Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa picked up two wickets each.

Both Afif and Nurul were run out.

In their chase, Australia could only manage 117 runs, despite losing just the four wickets.

Mitchell Marsh continued his rich form, scoring 51 runs off 47 balls and looked the best touring batsmen in the series by far.

Ben McDermott, given a life earlier, was bowled by Shakib for 35 runs.

The Bangladeshi allrounder picked up a wicket, while giving away 22 runs.

Nasum Ahmed, who bowled a maiden over, gave away 19 runs and accounted for a wicket.

Shoriful Islam picked up two wickets.

Bangladeshi skipper Mahmudullah was adjudged the Man of the Match.
