Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 29: Tamim Iqbal played a stormy innings of 111 runs with 17 boundaries and four over-boundaries against Sylhet Sunrisers, which puts him next to Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis. He becomes the first batsman in Bangladesh to score multiple centuries in the BPL.

Only two Caribbeans, Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle, have scored multiple centuries in the BPL so far. Gayle, the Universe Boss, has scored five centuries in the BPL and Lewis has two. On Friday, Tamim sat next to two Caribbeans with a record of multiple centuries in his hometown Chittagong.

Tamim was already at the top among the Bangladeshis with three centuries in T20. This time Tamim increased it to four. Apart from him, only Nazmul Hossain Shanto has scored more than one century among the Bangladeshi batsmen in T20 cricket.

He also got runs in the first two matches of the event and scored back to back fifties. But instead of getting applause, Tamim Iqbal had to bear the brunt of the downward strike rate. Not getting a run in the next two matches also put a little pressure on his shoulder. Meanwhile, he has announced that he will not be playing in the International T20 matches for the next six months.

This announcement seems to have relied on him, and a brilliant century came of his bat. Tamim played a stormy innings of 111 runs with 17 boundaries and four over-boundaries against Sylhet Sunrisers.
