Dhaka, March 9: Shakib Al Hasan has been rested from all forms of cricket till April 30. Cricket Operations Committee President Jalal Yunus told reporters on Wednesday. This means that Shakib is not going to tour South Africa.

The issue of Shakib Al Hasan not going to play in South Africa has been the talk of the cricket for the last two days. He told reporters before leaving for Dubai three days ago that he did not want to play in South Africa. At the same time, he said, he was told by Jalal Yunus, president of the BCB's cricket operations committee, to think twice.

Meanwhile, the BCB has informed on Tuesday that they will talk to Shakib on Wednesday and they will also officially inform the journalists about this. Finally, Chairman of the BCB Cricket Operations Committee Jalal Yunus spoke to reporters at the office of BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon at the Beximco office in Dhanmondi today. He said the BCB has rested from all forms of cricket till April 30. Shakib made this decision because he wanted rest.

On Monday, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon spoke harshly about Shakib. Then on Tuesday, team director Khaled Mahmud told Sujan Shakib to keep the team out. This afternoon, the Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee Jalal Yunus also said so. However, Jalal said that Shakib's future plans will be decided after talking to Nazmul Hasan Papon when he returns to the country on Thursday.

Before leaving for Dubai on Sunday night, Shakib said that it was no longer possible for him to take part in international cricket. He is physically and mentally exhausted. He is not physically fit to play cricket. Chairman of the BCB Cricket Operations Committee Jalal Yunus spoke to Shakib in this regard. After that he informed the position of BCB on this issue.

"We are sitting with the board president," Jalal told reporters. "There were also a few board directors. Considering Shakib's own interests, we have decided to rest him from all forms of cricket till April 30. Everyone has agreed on this."

Rest from all forms of cricket means not only going on tour to South Africa, Shakib will not be able to play in the Dhaka Premier Cricket League starting from March 15. Shakib was supposed to play for Dhaka Mohammedan in the Premier League.
