We can win World Cup oneday: Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka, 10 June 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the game of bank association should not stop here.

There are many sports in our country, those sports should be added slowly, such competitions should be organized.

Excellence will be achieved through competition.

She said, "We will be able to play the World Cup from here. One day we can win the World Cup. I can win. I urge everyone to move forward with that mindset."

She said this while addressing the chief guest at the final game and closing ceremony of the 'Sheikh Hasina Inter-Bank Football Tournament 2023' at the Bangladesh Army Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said that the organization of such sports has created an unprecedented response across Bangladesh.

She said: "Sports, physical exercise, cultural activities. This develop human intelligence. Just like that, the people of our country are energized, confidence increases, love for the country increases, sense of responsibility increases and sense of duty increases. I sincerely thank Bangladesh Bank Association for organizing this tournament.

She said, "Since we came to power, we are making mini stadiums in all parts of the country. These stadiums can play for 12 months. Our native games should be practiced more. Sports, physical exercise and cultural activities should be practiced along with education. I want that our country is progressing. We have been quite advanced economically. Unfortunately, we are all suffering economically due to the pandemic coronavirus and the Ukraine-Russia war. Inflation affects not only Bangladesh but the whole world. We are trying our best."

A stadium is going to be constructed in Purbachal. The Prime Minister announced to build another football stadium next to it.

Chairman of Bangladesh Association Bank Nazrul Islam Majumdar delivered the welcome speech at the closing ceremony. Bangladesh Army Chief General SM Shafi Uddin Ahmed also spoke.
