Young cricketers join T20 team
Dhaka, 24 July 2022 : The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu named the 15-member T20I and 16-member ODI squad in front of the media today (Friday). There are no surprises in the ODI team.
However, a bunch of youngsters are getting opportunities in T20 this time. Because none of the senior cricketers are in the T20 squad for the tour of Zimbabwe.
Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is not going on this tour due to taking leave. Regular captain Mahmudullah Riyad and experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim have been rested.
Nurul Hasan Sohan will lead the T20 team in the tour of Zimbabwe. Young opener Parvez Hossain Imon got a chance in his team. Earlier, the Under-19 World Cup winning batsman did not make his debut despite being called up to the national team against Pakistan. Young pacer Hasan Mahmud also returned to the team after recovering from injury. He has been retained in both formats. Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim are in the ODI squad even though they are not in T20.
Bangladesh will play three ODIs and T20Is in the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The Tigers will leave the country for Zimbabwe on July 26.
