Zimbabwe defeat Bangladesh in second T20I, level series 1-1

Harare, July 24: For the first time in the series, hosts Zimbabawe have defeated Bangladesh after clincing the second match of the T20I series. With that, Sikander Raza's men have levelled the three-match series 1-1.  

Winning the toss and batting first, Zimbabwe scored 166 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Opener Wesley Madhevere top scored for the hosts with 73 runs of 57 balls. His innings comprised of five fours and three sixes. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Among the others, allrounder Ryan Burl provided the impetus with a cameo knock of 34 runs off 19 balls. Burl hit two sixes and an equal number of fours during his unbeaten stay at the crease.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam picked up three wickets, while Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan took a wicket each.

Bangladesh's batting start in the second match was in stark contrast to the inaugural match of the series.

While the openers forged a a century-run stand in the first match, both openers Naim and Soumya Sarkar were sent back to the pavillion with Bangladesh's score reading 17 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Apart from Afif Hossain and debutant Shamim Hossain- who top scored with 29 runs- none of the Bangladeshi batsmen coud score in excess of 20 runs, as their innings ended for 143 runs in 19.5 overs.

Bowlers Luke Jongwe and Wellington Masakadza picked up three wickets each, while Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara accounted for two wickets each.
