Zimbabwe tour: Bangladesh batsmen find form in day one of 2-day match

Harare, July 3: On Saturday, the first of the two-day match against Zimbabwe Select XI, Bangladesh batsmen had a good run at Takashinga Sports Club in Harare.

Star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan led the scoring with 74 runs off 56 deliveries, before retiring.

At stumps, Bangladesh posted 313 runs for the loss of two wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Two other batsmen score in excess of 50 runs, however, opener Shadman Islam couldn't score a run and departed for a duck despite facing 30 deliveries.

Saif Hasan and Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored 65 and 52 respectively before they too retired, allowing other batsmen time in the middle.

Meanwhile, skipper Mominul Haque scored 29 runs, before falling to leg-spinner Brighton Chipungu.

Liton Das too retired before scoring 37 runs, finding crucial form before the start of the series against the hosts.

Mahmudullah and Mehedi Hasan Miraz are unbeaten on 40 and five runs respectively.   

Senior pros Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim did not bat due to injuries.
