Dhaka, October 29: Expressing fears of an outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19) during the upcoming winter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the people to be vigilant. The Prime Minister made the call on Thursday (October 28) at a blanket receiving ceremony. She joined the function through video conference from Ganobhaban.

Covid-19 infection may increase again: Planning Minister

Dhaka, September 11: Planning Minister MA Mannan has warned that the coronavirus infection rate in the country to increase again, if people don't adhere to the health guidelines issued by the government. The lawmaker made the remarks at a function at the Hasan Raja Auditorium of Sunamganj District Shilpakala Academy on Friday (September 10) afternoon.

Dhaka, August 11: In between Tuesday and Wednesday, 237 people succumbed to the coronavirus across Bangladesh, while another 10,420 tested positive for the deadly virus.

Dhaka, August 5: A notification has been issued by the government to officially extend the ongoing hard lockdown by five more days- till midnight on Tuesday (August 10). The notification was issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday (August 5).

Dhaka, August 5: Bangladesh has set another record in Covid-19 daily deaths with 264 fatalities in the 24 hours, from Wednesday to Thursday morning. The death toll in the country rose to 21,902.

Dhaa, August 4: Bangladesh has registered another 241 coronavirus deaths and 13,817 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, between Tuesday and Wednesday morning. With it, the death toll and caseload surged to 21,638 and 13,09,910 respectively.

Lockdown: 354 arrested by DMP, Tk 13 lakh fined on Tuesday

Dhaka, August 4: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 354 people for violating government directives on the 12th day of the ongoing two-week hard lockdown, imposed by the government to put a check on coronavirus infections. According to the DMP, 120 individuals and organizations were fined Tk 1,77,800 by the mobile courts.

Covid-19: No empty beds in the hospitals, looking for hotels, says Health Minister Maleque

Dhaka, August 4: Explaining the coronavirus situation in the country, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said there are no beds left in hospitals as officials are forced to look for hotels to accomodate coronavirus patients.

Lockdown extended till August 10

Dhaka, August 3: The government has decided to extend the lockdown till August 10 to prevent coronavirus infection. The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on Tuesday (August 3). After the meeting, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told reporters.

Peril mounts for government as more people flout Covid-19 norms during ongoing 'hard' lockdown

Dhaka, August 3: Even with more people succumbing to the deadly coronavirus with each passing day, people are simply not ready to listen to and follow the Covid-19 health guidelines set by the government. The country, presently undergoing a supposed hard lockdown, is already witnessing a wane in caution from citizens, who prefer venturing out and risking it all rather than staying indoors and help frontline workers thwart the looming catastrophe.
