Dhaka, Dec 6: Today (December 6) is the day of the fall of dictatorship and liberation of democracy. The then dictator fell on this day in 1990 in the face of a popular uprising at the final stage of the nine-year long anti-dictatorship movement.

Ershad govt. fell on this day in 1990 in the face of mass uprising in the final stages of the long nine-year anti-dictatorship movement. On that day, according to the outline of the three alliances, the then President Hussein Muhammad Ershad was forced to hand over power to a non-partisan, caretaker government. Different political parties and socio-cultural organizations have arranged separate programs on the occasion of the day.
