Metro rail service to remain shut on Oct 14 and 15

Dhaka, Oct 11: Commercial movement of metro rail will be closed on October 14 and 15 (Saturday and Sunday). Meanwhile, Metrorail is closed on Fridays. As a result, passengers will not be able to travel by metro rail for three consecutive days (Friday-Sunday).

Miscreants yet to be identified, two months after pelting stones at Metro Rail

Police summoned 20 people from four buildings and interrogated them in two months. No one has admitted the stone throwing. The investigating officers are also not able to give any clear information. However, there are five names on the police shortlist. It is believed that only one of them is responsible.

Construction of country's first underground metro line to begin in July

Dhaka, May 24: A bilateral agreement has been signed with the contractor to start the contract package-1 (land development of depot area) of Uttara route of the country's first subway MRT line-5. The total cost of land development has been estimated at Tk 1,149 crore. The land development work will begin two months after the completion of various works and formalities related to this international agreement, i.e. in July. A total of 99.25 acres of land will be developed under this agreement.

Bangladesh: Metro rail passenger services get VAT exemption on

Dhaka, 23 May 2023 : The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has exempted Value Added Tax (VAT) on metro rail passenger services. This exemption will remain in effect till June 30, 2024.

All metro stations between Uttara and Agargaon now operational

Dhaka, April 1: Sheorapara and Uttara Dakshin stations of Metrorail have been opened. As a result, the metro rail will stop at all stations on the Uttara-Agargaon route from now on. Remaining four metro rail stations to be opened this month

Dhaka, March 2: Metrorail has a total of nine stations on its route from Uttara North to Agargaon. Of these, five are operational. Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) authorities said these four stations, which are awaiting inauguration, will be opened this month. These four stations are Uttara South, Mirpur-11, Kazipara and Sheorapara.

Busiest metro rail station opened
