Dhaka, Jan 17: A ferry named Rajnigandha loaded with vehicles capsized in Padma river on Paturia-Daulatdia route early Wednesday (Jan 17). The incident took place around 8:30 am near Ghat No. 5 of Paturia.

Rustom rescuing sunken Paturi ferry

Dhaka, October 30: 'Rustom' has reached Paturia to rescue the ferry that capsized at the wharf. On Saturday (October 30) morning, Rustom began its fourth day of rescue with the rescue ship Hamza.

18-hour wait for trucks to reach ferries

Dhaka, October 29: A three-day operation has been launched in Paturia to rescue a sunken freight vehicle from a tilted ferry. Hundreds of buses and trucks are waiting to cross the river on Friday due to the disruption of ferry services and shortage of ghats at Daulatdia. Long-distance buses can easily reach the ferry, but freight trucks have to wait 15 to 18 hours to reach the ferry.

Sunken ferry yet to be rescued

Dhaka, October 29: Amanat Shah, the ferry that overturned in the accident at Manatganj's Shibalaya Upazila Paturia Ghat, has not yet been rescued. Immediately after the incident, the rescue ship Pratyay set sail from Chandpur towards Paturia to rescue the ferry. Meanwhile, Hamza has started the operation for the third day to rescue the vehicles stuck inside the sunken ferry Amanat Shah on Friday morning.

Patuaria ferry accident: Rescue operation stalled

Dhaka, October 28: The rescue operation has been suspended in the incident of ferry sinking at Paturia in Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj. Authorities suspended the rescue operation around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (October 27) after a 10-and-a-half-hour work. However, 10 trucks are still submerged in the Padma. There are five trucks inside the ferry.

Authorities stop heavy vehicles from ferrying under Padma bridge

Dhaka, August 11: Ferry traffic with heavy vehicles has been stopped under the Padma Bridge. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury told reporters at the secretariat at noon on Tuesday (August 10). He said only light vehicles will be allowed to be ferried. He said the decision was effective immediately.

Ferry hits pillar of Padma Bridge, injures 20 passengers

Dhaka, July 23: Twenty passengers of the ro-ro ferry Shahjalal on the Shimulia-Banglabazar waterway were injured when they collided with the 17th pillar of the Padma Bridge. The accident took place when the driver lost control on the way from Banglabazar Ghat in Madharipur to Shimulia Ghat in Munshiganj around 9:45 am on Friday. However, there was no major danger as the ferry was brought under control immediately. Later the driver came to Shimuliaghat without any hindrance and anchored the ferry.

Child among five dead in overcrowded ferry

Dhaka, May 12: Five people, including a child, died on the way to Banglabazar from Shimulia Ghat on a ferry despite restrictions on Eid pilgrimage due to the corona epidemic. At least 20 people fell ill. The incident took place on Wednesday (May 12) at noon on the way from Shimulia in Munshiganj to Banglabazar in Madaripur.

Driver killed as truck falls into river from ferry in Paturia

Dhaka, March 1: The driver lost control of the truck and fell into the river at Paturia Ghat in Manikganj. The deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 32, son of Shamsul Islam of Chanda village under Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira.
