Dhaka, April 4: Around 5,000 shops were damaged in the fire incident in Bangabazar Market, including 2,500 in nearby markets. Helal Uddin, President of Bangladesh Shop Owners' Association, has demanded compensation of Tk 700 crore as a wholesale allocation, stating that the fire has caused an estimated loss of Tk 2000 crore.
