Gazipur polls: 13,000 police-RAB-BGB-Ansar deployed to assure security
Dhaka, May 25: More than 13,000 law and order forces have been deployed for Gazipur City Corporation election security. The local administration has taken all preparations to make the elections fair and peaceful. Law enforcement forces include the Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Forces.
Voting underway in Gazipur city polls
Dhaka, May 25: Voting is underway in Gazipur City Corporation election. Starting at 8 am, the polling will continue till 4 pm without interruption in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

Jahangir cannot participate in elections: High Court
Dhaka, May 9: The High Court rejected the writ filed by Jahangir Alam challenging the validity of cancellation of candidacy for the post of mayor in the Gazipur City Corporation election. As a result, the returning officer's decision to cancel his nomination paper was upheld, the lawyers said.

Dhaka, May 4: Md. Jahangir Alam, the mayoral candidate discussed in the Gazipur City Corporation election, did not get the validity of the nomination paper even in the appeal. After the cancellation of the returning officer, the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner has upheld the same order in the appeal.
