Dhaka, December 17: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the Great Victory Day.

Great Victory Day celebrated

Dhaka, December 17: On the 51st anniversary of the Bengali victory in the Liberation War, the entire nation on Friday remembered the heroes whose blood ended two eras of Pakistani rule and put independent Bangladesh on the world map. On this day of victory, the people who came to pay tribute to the brave children pledged to overthrow the communal evil forces and stop all 'international conspiracies' including the defeated forces of the liberation war. After nine months of bloody war, on December 16, 1971, a new country called Bangladesh emerged on the world map. The day has been celebrated in various embassies of Bangladesh across the country including the capital Dhaka and abroad.

President, Prime Minister pay tributes to martyrs

Dhaka, December 16: On the occasion of Great Victory Day, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the brave martyrs at Savar National Martyrs' Memorial. They entered the National Martyrs' Memorial at 7:30 am on Friday (December 16) and paid tribute by placing flowers at the main altar.

People flock to Jatiyo Smriti Soudho to pay respects

Dhaka, December 16: The National Smriti Soudho premises are open to all who come to pay their respects to the martyrs on the Great Victory Day. The President and the Prime Minister left the memorial area at around 7 am after paying their respects and ceremonies. After that, the general people flocked to the memorial.
