Kolkata fish traders want 60 days to import hilsa
Dhaka, Sept 12: Every year on the occasion of Durga Puja, Bengalis across India including in West Bengal taste hilsa as a gift from Bangladesh. Last year (in 2022) before Durga Puja, Bangladesh got permission to export 2,900 tons of hilsa to India. However, Indian fish importers were able to import only 1,300 tons of hilsa. As a result, during Durga Puja last year, the price of this delicious hilsa in Bangladesh was beyond the reach of common people.
Not hilsa, flocks of pangas fish being caught in Meghna
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 3: After the ban on fishing is lifted, fishermen went to the river with nets. However, even though the desired hilsa is not found in Meghna river in Bhola, swarms of pangas fish are being caught, and because the price is good, the fishermen are smiling in the end.

Hilsa flocks to Cox's Bazar: Fishermen not happy even after getting high prices
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 8: In Cox's Bazar, fishermen are catching hilsa in flocks. Hilsa-laden trawlers are crowding in the Nuniyachhara Fishery Ghat area of the Bankkhali river in the city. Thousands of hilsas are being unloaded from each trawler at the fish landing center. The fishermen are not happy even though the hilsa prices are high. Fishermen and trawler owners have expressed frustration that they are not getting "adequate" prices.
A special integrated campaign is starting from midnight to protect mother hilsa
Dhaka, October 4, 2021: The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock is launching a special campaign to protect mother hilsa from midnight on Sunday in the main breeding season this year. The special operation will be conducted in 36 districts of the country till October 25.

Dhaka, March 1: In order to conserve fishes, all kinds of fishing, including hilsa, will be banned in five hilsa sanctuaries in six districts of the country. An order to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Sunday (February 28).

নিজস্ব প্রতিনিধি, ঢাকা, অক্টোবর ৩০ : নিষেধাজ্ঞা অমান্য করে বরিশালের বাকেরগঞ্জ উপজেলায় ইলিশ শিকারে গিয়ে পুলিশের ধাওয়া খেয়ে নদীতে ডুবে মজিবর রহমান মৃধা (৪৫) নামে এক যুবলীগ নেতার মৃত্যু হয়েছে। মঙ্গলবার সকাল সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে উপজেলার নিয়ামতি বাজারসংলগ্ন বিষখালী নদী থেকে তার মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়।

ঢাকা, জুলাই ২৮ : ভোলার চরফ্যাশন ও মনপুরা উপজেলার বঙ্গোপসাগরের মোহনায় জেলেদের জালে ধরা পড়ছে ঝাঁকে ঝাঁকে ইলিশ। দীর্ঘ ৬৫ দিন নিষেধাজ্ঞার পর সাগরে গিয়ে এত ইলিশ পেয়ে আনন্দিত জেলেরা। বাজারে দামও পাচ্ছেন চড়া। ইলিশের এই প্রাপ্যতা দেখে রাজধানীতে বিভিন্ন কোল্ডস্টোরেজে মজুত আধা পচা ইলিশ মাছ বাজাওে ছেড়েছে।

ঢাকা, জুলাই ২৬ : বঙ্গোপসাগরে জেলেদের জালে ধরা পড়তে শুরু করেছে ঝাঁকে ঝাঁকে রুপালি ইলিশ। সাগরে ৬৫ দিন সব ধরনের মৎস্য আহরণে নিষেধাজ্ঞা উঠে যাওয়ার পরদিন বুধবার সকাল থেকেই ঝাঁকে ঝাঁকে রুপালি ইলিশ ধরা পড়ায় জেলে, ফিশিং ট্রলার মালিক ও মৎস্য আড়তদারদের মুখে হাসি ফুটেছে।
