Dhaka, June 23: In a letter sent to the US President, the leaders of the Hindu community of the country have protested the claim of six US Congressmen that minorities are being persecuted in Bangladesh as completely baseless and fabricated.
Country observes Janmastami
Dhaka, August 30: In the face of the adverse effects of the pandemic coronavirus, the birth anniversary of the Supreme Lord Krishna, popularly known as Janmashtami, is being celebrated across the country on Monday (August 30). This year too, the festival has been organized domestically to avoid coronary health risks. Janmashtami ceremonies are confined to the temple premises without any gatherings, processions or invitations from devotees. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued instructions in this regard in an emergency notification on Sunday.

নিজস্ব প্রতিনিধি, ঢাকা, ২৬ নভেম্বর ২০২০: করোনা পরিস্থিতির কারণে এবার সুন্দরবনের দুবলার চরে শত বছরের ঐতিহ্যবাহী রাস উৎসব বা মেলা অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে না। মেলার পরিবর্তে শুধুমাত্র সনাতন (হিন্দু) ধর্মাবলম্বীদের রাস পূর্ণিমার পূজা ও পুণ্যস্নানে অংশগ্রহণের অনুমতি দেয়া হয়েছে। এর আগে গত বছর ঘূর্ণিঝড় বুলবুলের কারণে রাস পূজা ও পুণ্যস্নান উপলক্ষে কোনো মেলা বা উৎসব হয়নি।

Durga Puja to be performed in 30,225 mandapas across the country
নিজস্ব প্রতিনিধি, ঢাকা, ১৬ অক্টোবর ২০২০: সারাদেশে এ বছর ৩০ হাজার ২২৫টি মন্ডপে দুর্গাপূজা অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে। গতবছর এ সংখ্যা ছিলো ৩১ হাজার ৩৯৮টি। গতবছরের তুলনায় এবার ১ হাজার ১৭৩টি মন্ডপে পূজা কম হচ্ছে। অন্যদিকে ঢাকা মহানগরে এ বছর পূজা মন্ডপের সংখ্যা ২৩৩টি। গত বছর এ সংখ্যা ছিলো ২৩৭টি। আর ঢাকা জেলায় পূজা হচ্ছে ৭৪০টি।
