Dhaka, January 9: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the High Court's order granting six-month bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the party's Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas. At the same time, the High Court has been asked to settle the ruling on the bail question within the next 30 days. The court also disposed of the bail application made by the state party.

Dhaka, Jan 6: The court has issued an arrest warrant to bring BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas to court on January 16 in the case of illegal acquisition of Tk 20 crore 74 lakh 47 thousand. He is in jail in a case filed at Paltan police station on charges of planning and instigating attacks on police.
Fakhrul-Abbas cannot be released from prison even if they get bail
Dhaka, January 6: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and member of the party's Standing Committee Mirza Abbas will remain in jail till next Sunday (January 8) in a case lodged at Paltan police station on charges of planning and inciting attacks on the police. On that day, the full bench of the Appellate Division has fixed the date of bail hearing. Appellate Division Chamber Justice Jahangir Hossain Salim gave the order on Wednesday (January 4).

Dhaka, December 28: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a charge sheet against BNP leader Mirza Abbas and his wife Afroza Abbas in the case of acquiring illegal wealth of Rs 20 crore 74 lakh 47 thousand. On Tuesday (December 27), the investigating officer and deputy director of the ACC Mohammad Nurul Huda filed the chargesheet in the court.
