Dhaka, November 28: The process of formation of 'Padma' division with five districts of Greater Faridpur and 'Meghna' division with three districts of Greater Comilla and three of Noakhali has been suspended.

Dhaka, November 23: The government is going to form 'Meghna' division with five districts of Greater Faridpur, three districts of Greater Comilla and three districts of Noakhali. The cabinet department finalized the proposal by determining the names of the two new divisions after the two main rivers of the country.

Two die while trying to save friend from drowning
Dhaka, March 18: A teenager drowned while taking a bath in Padma river in Rajshahi. Two more friends jumped into the river to save him. The drowned teenager survived but the two friends died. The accident took place on Friday (March 18) at around 11:30 am in the Padma river in Barakuthi area of the city. The deceased have been identified as Nirab, 15, son of Sarik of Barakuthi area of Rajshahi and Shahin, 16, son of Sayed of the same area.
Prime Minister tells everyone to be ready to deal with floods

Fear of deteriorating flood situation in 10 districts
Dhaka, August 31: The water of six rivers is flowing over the danger line at 13 points. In this context, the flood situation is expected to deteriorate in 10 districts of the north, north-central and central regions of the country, according to a report of rainfall and river condition from Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre of Bangladesh Water Development Board on Monday (August 30).
Fear of deteriorating flood situation in nine districts
Dhaka, August 28: The flood situation in nine districts of the country may deteriorate in the next 24 hours. In addition, some rivers may exceed the danger mark due to rising water levels. The matter was reported in a press release issued by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center of the Bangladesh Water Development Board on Friday (August 26th).
Water level in Padma and Jamuna rivers has increased by 18 cm
Dhaka, August 20: The Padma and Jamuna rivers in Pabna are overflowing due to continuous rains. Meanwhile, the water level in several rivers including Ichhamati, Hurasagar, Gumani and Chalanbil flowing through the district has risen by 18 cm. Water is flowing in the Padma River at Pakshi Hardinge Bridge Point in Ishwardi Upazila just below the danger level of 16 cm. On the other hand, the water in the river Jamuna is rising every day.

Padma seaport to have trial run within a month
Dhaka, October 13: A seaport is being constructed on the Padma River at Sultanganj in Godagari upazila of Rajmahi district to transport goods from India by river. It is expected that the trial run of the shipment will be tested on this route in the next one month.
