Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 8 February 2024: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the average daily income from toll collection at Padma Bridge is Tk 2.18 crore. Since the inauguration of this multi-purpose bridge, the total toll collected in the last 19 months is Tk 1 thousand 270 crore 81 lakh. She gave this information in a written reply to a question of Member of Parliament Nurunnabi Chowdhury in the session of the 12th National Parliament on Wednesday, February 7.

Freight train carries stones over Padma Bridge

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 16 September 2023: A seven-carriage trial special train loaded with stones has crossed Padma Bridge from Bhanga in Faridpur to Mawa end of Munshiganj. The train left Bhanga for Mawa at 7.30 am on Saturday 16th September. From there, at around 9:30, the intention to break again came out. This is the first speed trial of a freight train crossing the Padma Bridge.

Train to cross Padma in seven minutes

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 7 September 2023: Train movement has started on an experimental basis after the road vehicles were opened on the Padma Multipurpose Bridge. The train departed from Kamalapur railway station at 10:07 AM on Thursday, September 7. The train reached the Mawa end of Padma Bridge at 11:27 PM. The train passed in 7 minutes and reached Jazira end at 11:34.

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 4 September 2023: About 82 km of new broad gauge railway from Dhaka to Bhanga is now ready to run trains. Trains will go from Dhaka railway station to Bhanga station on a trial basis on Thursday, September 7. Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate this railway on October 10. However, the length of the railway from Dhaka to Jessore to be constructed in the whole project is 172 km.

According to this, the number of passengers in Dhaka has decreased by 34 percent in the last one year.

Experimental train reached Bhanga by crossing Padma Bridge from the capital

Dhaka, 20 August 2023 : An experimental train (tack car) of the railways', which started its journey from Dhaka's Gandaria station, crossed Padma Bridge and reached Bhanga station on Saturday. The tack car left Gandaria around 9:30 am.

Electronic toll collection starts on experimental basis at Padma Bridge

Dhaka, July 6: Trial of Electronic Toll Collection System-ETCS started on Padma Bridge. 14 booths have been brought under automatic toll collection from Wednesday. And the remaining three booths are kept manually for motorcycles as before. Besides, Padma Bridge Traffic Monitoring Center has been started at Mawa end to monitor the traffic of the bridge.

Padma Bridge: 660 crore toll collected in 10 months
