Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 12 March 2024: The Appellate Division has stayed the High Court's order suspending the decision to keep primary and secondary schools open during the month of Ramadan. As a result of this order, there is no obstacle to keep primary and secondary schools open during Ramadan, lawyers said. The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan gave this order on Tuesday.

The government has suddenly amended it. The Ministry of Education and Primary and Mass Education has also issued a notification regarding this change in holidays. According to the new decision, primary schools will remain open for the first 10 days of fasting and secondary schools for 15 days. Teachers are 'displeased' with the sudden decision to cancel the holiday.

The government of Bangladesh on Wednesday said that all educational institutions in the country will remain shut till August 31. Earlier it was decided that institutions will remain closed till August 6, however, authorities extended the date due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
