High tide inundates Sundarbans

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 12: Under the influence of depression formed in the Bay of Bengal, the entire Sundarbans area, including the lower part of Mongla, has been inundated with an extra two and a half feet high tide than normal. Bangladesh observing third anniversary of the bandit-free Sundarbans

Dhaka, November 1: The Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world. It is directly involved in the lives and livelihoods of various professional people, including coastal residents. Before 2018, their biggest fear in terms of livelihood was the nuisance of pirates and forest robbers. On November 1, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared the Sundarbans a 'bandit-free Sundarbans'. As such, today is the third anniversary of the bandit-free Sundarbans.

Bawali killed in tiger attack in Sundarbans

Dhaka, March 17: A Bawali named Md. Abul Kalam (45) was killed in a tiger attack in the Sundarbans. The incident took place around 2pm on Tuesday (March 17) while collecting golpata in the Payratuni canal near the Sundarbans. 

Red alert issued in Sundarbans

Dhaka, February 5: A red alert has been issued in the World Heritage Sundarbans to prevent the killing and trafficking of other wildlife, including the Royal Bengal Tiger and deer. This information was confirmed by the Sundarbans Division on Thursday (February 4) afternoon. The decision was taken after a large quantity of deer meat, including tiger and deer skins, was seized in the Sundarbans over the past two weeks.

Three crocodiles released in the Sundarbans to mark Bangabandhu's birth centenary

Dhaka, December 21: Three crocodiles have been released in the Sundarbans on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The crocodiles were released at noon on Sunday (December 20) in the Harbaria canal of the Pashur River.
