Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 7: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has issued a status quo on the judgment given by the High Court along with the four-point directive to the eviction of all types of commercial establishments in the capital's Hatirjheel-Begunbari project. This status quo will remain in place until Rajuk's leave-to-appeal against the High Court verdict is disposed of. As a result, Hatirjheel is not being evacuated for now.

Dhaka, October 27: Abdul Baset Majumder, former vice chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council and former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, has died (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He died, aged 83, at United Hospital in the capital around 8:00 am on Wednesday (October 27).

However, if the verdict is specified in a particular case, life imprisonment will be considered as 'death penalty'.
