Dhaka, August 8: Tomorrow Tuesday (10th of Muharram) is the holy Ashura. The day of Karbala, a 'mourning and heartbreaking event', has special religious significance for the Muslim community. In addition to being a symbol of sacrifice and mourning, this day is celebrated with great importance in the Muslim world as a special holy day. Ashura will be observed tomorrow Tuesday in Bangladesh with appropriate religious dignity and solemnity through various programs and following the health rules prescribed by the government.

Dhaka, August 20: On a day the Covid-19 death toll across Bangladesh crossed 25,000, the Shia Muslims flouted coronavirus guidelines set by the government and took out the Tajia procession in Old Dhaka's Husseini Dalan to observe the holy Ashura.

Dhaka, August 20: The country is observing the Holy Ashura today, 10th Muharram (Friday). This tragic day of Karbala is of special religious significance to Muslims. The day is celebrated in the Islamic world as a special holy day as a symbol of sacrifice and mourning. Holy Ashura is being observed in Bangladesh with due dignity and in a short program in accordance with the rules of health, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Ashura: Govt. bans Tazia marches, processions and rallies on August 20

Dhaka, August 18: Considering the situation of coronavirus (Covid-19) infection, the government has banned all kinds of processions and marches on the occasion of Ashura. However, all the necessary religious rituals can be observed in accordance with proper hygiene and social distance. This information has been given in the press release of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Tuesday (August 17). Holy Ashura will be celebrated in the country next Friday (August 20).
