Cox's Bazar, August 19: The RAB has found a firearms manufacturing factory in remote hills in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf. The operation around the mountain started from Friday night.

Teknaf, Saint-Martin badly hit by severe cyclone Mocha

Dhaka, May 15: Severe cyclone Mocha hit Cox's Bazar and Myanmar coast around 3 pm on Sunday with strong winds. Teknaf and St. Martin were heavily damaged by the cyclone.

Cyclone Mocha: All hotels-motels-resorts in St. Martin declared shelters

Dhaka, May 13: Cyclone 'Mocha' is approaching Cox's Bazar with strength. The cyclone will move over the coast of Myanmar including St. Martin Island in Teknaf and its surroundings, the Meteorological Department said. As a result, residents of St. Martin panicked and began to leave the island with trawlers and come to Teknaf. About 1,500 people from at least 200 families left the island from Thursday to Friday afternoon. In this situation, the district administration has declared all the hotels-motels and resorts of St. Martin island as shelters.

61 Rohingya died of AIDS, 95 children are born every day

Dhaka, February 16: According to the Defense Ministry, the Rohingya area of Cox's Bazar is vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and diphtheria. So far 710 people have been diagnosed with these diseases. Six hundred and twelve of them are Rohingya. As of December 22 last year, 61 Rohingya have died of HIV/AIDS.

Dhaka, July 28: Five members of the same family were killed in a landslide at Hneela in Teknaf. The landslide took place at around 2 am on Wednesday (July 28) at Pankhali Villagejarpara in Hneela Union of Teknaf Upazila.

Fire guts 500 houses in Teknaf Rohingya camp

Dhaka, January 14: A terrible fire broke out at the Nayapara Registered Refugee Camp in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. A block of 552 Rohingya families, including two local houses and a community center, was burnt to ashes. The blaze broke out in the early hours of Thursday (January 14).

Myanmar releases nine detained fishermen

Dhaka, November 26: Myanmar has returned nine Bangladeshi fishermen abducted by the BGP while fishing in the mouth of the Naf River in the Bay of Bengal, 15 days after detaining them. They were handed over after a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) inside Myanmar on Wednesday (November 25).

Bangladeshi shot dead by Myanmar border guards

Dhaka, November 9: A Bangladeshi fisherman has been shot dead by Myanmar Border Security Force (BGP) while fishing in a boat on the Naf River. The shot dead fisherman died in the late night of Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at the surgery department of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Islam, 35, son of Gura Miah of Baraitali area in Ward 9 of Teknaf Sadar Union.

Three Rohingyas held with arms and yaba pills

Dhaka, October 17: Cox's Bazar-16 APBN has arrested three Rohingyas with weapons and yaba in a raid at Nayapara refugee camp in Teknaf upazila of the province. They were detained from different areas of the Nayapara Rohingya camp on Friday (October 16) evening. At this time 400 pieces of yaba and three machetes were seized from them.
