Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 17 August 2023: HSC examination has started today, Thursday 17 August. On the first day, more than 10 lakh students participated in the Bengali First Paper exam in 8 General Education Boards. The exam was held from 10 am to 1 pm.

Rain, traffic frustrate Dhaka residents

Dhaka, September 15: Due to continuous rains for several days, the heat has come down, but the pedestrians are suffering. It has been raining intermittently across the capital since Wednesday morning. Somewhere it's drizzling, somewhere it's torrential. It rained by noon. This caused waterlogging in some roads of the city. On top of that, there is severe traffic jam across the capital. All in all, the city dwellers have suffered greatly.

Along with this, the traffic congestion has also increased on the roads of the capital. People on public transport are tired. Underpass U-loop to be constructed on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

Dhaka, July 26: A project worth Tk 568 crore is being taken up again to make the Dhaka-Chittagong highway safe and congestion free. Under the project, new underpass U-loop will be constructed on such highways. The initiative is aimed at reducing the risk of accidents and providing sustainable, safe and cost-effective communication systems.

Massive traffic congestion covers 35 kilometres on the Tangail highway

Dhaka, July 21: Homebound people on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway are not comfortable. Passengers and transport workers are suffering due to traffic jams and slow fences during the last day's Eid procession. As time went by, the extent of suffering increased.

Heavy traffic jam on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Dhaka, July 18: Flyover construction is underway on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gorai industrial area of Mirzapur upazila. As a result, four-lane vehicles on the highway are coming out with one lane. Besides, passenger buses, cattle and goods trucks on Gorai-Sakhipur road are taking to the highway with U-turns. As a result, traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Tangail highway is gradually increasing. The situation was the same throughout the day on Saturday (July 17).

No traffic congestion as Dhaka empties ahead of Eid

Government planning subway to keep Dhaka congestion free

Dhaka, March 24: The government has taken a plan to build a subway to keep Dhaka free from traffic jams and congestion. Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the remarks at a seminar on feasibility study for construction of subway in Dhaka city at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday (March 24) morning. The minister was virtually connected from his official residence. 

Four more bus terminals to be built around Dhaka to ease traffic congestion

Dhaka, December 24: Inter-district bus terminals will be constructed at four spots in Dhaka under bus route rationalization. This will soon reduce the traffic congestion in the metropolis.

নিজস্ব প্রতিনিধি, ঢাকা, ৮ আগস্ট ২০২০ : পদ্মা নদীতে তীব্র স্রোতের কারণে দৌলতদিয়া-পাটুরিয়া নৌ রুটে ফেরি চলাচল ব্যাহত হচ্ছে। ঈদ শেষে কর্মস্থলগামী মানুষের ভিড় ও শিমুলিয়া-কাঁঠালবাড়ী রুটের বাড়তি চাপে দৌলতদিয়ায় নদী পারের অপেক্ষায় কয়েক কিলোমিটার সড়কে যানবাহনের দীর্ঘ লাইন তৈরি হয়েছে। শনিবার (৮ আগস্ট) বেলা ১১টার দিকে দৌলতদিয়া ফেরি ঘাটের জিরো পয়েন্ট থেকে ঢাকা-খুলনা মহাসড়কের প্রায় তিন কিলোমিটার ও রাজবাড়ী-কুষ্টিয়া আঞ্চলিক মহাসড়কের প্রায় চার কিলোমিটার সড়কে যাত্রীবাহী বাস, পণ্যবাহী ট্রাক, মাইক্রোবাস ও প্রাইভেটকার সিরিয়ালে থাকতে দেখা গেছে। এ সময় সড়কে ঘণ্টার পর ঘণ্টা আটকে থেকে চরম ভোগান্তিতে পড়েন চালক ও যাত্রীরা। সময় মতো মালামাল পরিবহন করতে না পেরে বিপাকে পড়েছেন পণ্যবাহী ট্রাক চালকরা। ...
