Dhaka, June 7: The Election Commission does not represent the government. It is an independent organization. Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said this in an exchange meeting with the candidates of the Rajshahi City Corporation election at the district Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday (June 7) morning.

Dhaka, November 5: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal has expressed satisfaction that there were no irregularities in the by-elections in Faridpur-2 constituency. The CEC said this to reporters at the CC camera monitoring center at the Agargaon election building in the capital on Saturday (November 5).

EC wants Tk 8,711 crore to buy 2 lakh EVMs

Dhaka, September 19: The final approval has been given for the purchase, repair and maintenance of 2 lakh electronic voting machines (EVMs) for the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. The total cost will be 8 thousand 711 crore 44 lakh taka. The project proposal is being sent to the Planning Commission.

EVM voting in 150 constituencies in the national elections

Dhaka, August 24: EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be used in maximum 150 constituencies in the upcoming National Assembly elections. He announced this decision after the meeting on Tuesday (August 23).

Cabinet approves draft law on appointment of Election Commissioner
