Bangladesh to benefit from ADB's $100 billion financing in the climate sector

Dhaka, May 5: The world is warming faster than it has since pre-industrial times. Asian countries account for nearly half of the world's carbon emissions. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is ambitious to target USD 100 billion in climate finance between 2023 and 2030. Currently ADB has 68 member countries. Of these, 48 are located in Asia and the Pacific. The remaining 19 countries are outside these two regions. The organization will finance 100 billion US dollars in these countries. Bangladesh will also get loans under the project from this financing.

Bangladesh has never defaulted on debt in 51 years: Finance Minister

Dhaka, September 27: Stating that Bangladesh is regularly repaying its debts with great capacity, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that Bangladesh has never failed to repay domestic and foreign debts in its 51-year journey. Bangladesh has one of the lowest debt-to-GDP ratios in the world, with a debt-to-GDP ratio of just 34 percent.

ADB will not finance coal-fired power plants

The bank is providing the loan to Bangladesh for speeding up the construction of the corridor, road-highway safety and improving regional trade.

Tk 3,297 crore allocated as Covid-19 aid

Dhaka, May 31: In the new 2021-22 financial year, Tk 3,297.44 crore will be spent under two projects to combat coronavirus. The draft was approved at a recent meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC). It is expected to be finalized in the upcoming budget session.
