Bangladesh-India Commerce Secretary level meeting likely to be held next month

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 9: A meeting between the Commerce Secretaries of Bangladesh and India likely to be held in the first week of March to discuss various issues including infrastructural development to remove trade barriers and increase bilateral trade.

End of stalemate: Import-export resumes through Benapole-Petrapole port

Dhaka, February 5: Eventually the stalemate ended and the import-export trade between the two countries resumed through the Benapole-Petrapole port. As a result, activity has returned to both port areas. Users at the port of Petrapole stopped imports on Monday (January 31st) morning in protest of harassment of Indian truck drivers by the Indian Petrapole Port and Border Security Force (BSF). After discussions with the administration, it was decided on Thursday night to start import-export activities from Saturday.

Import and export to remain closed for 4 days at Benapole during Durga Puja

Dhaka, October 6: Import-export trade will be closed for four consecutive days through Benapole land port on the occasion of Durga Puja. However, goods will be unloaded at Benapole Custom House and Port during this holiday and the passage of passport holders between Bangladesh and India will be normal.
