Qatar and US companies sign deal to supply LNG to Bangladesh

Dhaka, Jan 31: Qatar's state-owned energy company QatarEnergy and US-based Accelerate Energy have signed an agreement to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Bangladesh for 15 years.

Long-term contractual LNG purchase proposal approved

Dhaka, August 10: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved in principle two proposals received from two separate companies for the purchase of LNG to meet the country's energy needs. The 15-year agreement will come into effect from 2026. This approval was given in this year's 17th meeting of CCEA held virtually under the chairmanship of Finance Minister HM Mustafa Kamal.

LNG to be imported only after monitoring stability in the world market

Dhaka, October 6: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid, has urged Qatar to reconsider and reduce the price of Liquefied Natural Gas exported to Bangladesh in the current situation due to coronavirus. He made the request during an online courtesy call to Qatar's Minister of State for Energy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, on Monday (October 5).
