Garment export to Europe-America market has increased

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 13 September 2023: Exports of manufactured garments from Bangladesh have increased in Europe and America during July-August. It has increased by 11.81 percent compared to the same period of last financial year. In terms of money, which has increased from about 3.44 billion US dollars to 3.85 billion dollars. At the same time, garment exports to the United Kingdom and the United States also increased.

Bangladesh to buy 11 million liters of soybean oil from US

Dhaka, May 26: The government will buy 18 million litres of soybean oil for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). Of this, 7 million liters of soybean oil will be purchased from domestic companies and 11 million liters from the United States. A total of eight procurement proposals were approved at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement on Wednesday. Dhaka, July 13: Expatriates have set a record by sending remittances even during the coronavirus pandemic. In the 2020-21 fiscal year, the country's expatriate income stood at USD 24.77 billion. Never before has so much remittances come to Bangladesh in a year. About 89 percent of the total remittances in this financial year came from 10 countries. This was also the first time that the USA overtook UAE in expatriate remittance.

Swiss bank deposits from Bangladeshis drop

Dhaka, June 19: In 2020, Bangladeshis smuggled 56 crore 29 lakh francs in Swiss bank from Bangladesh, which is moe than 5,179 crore takas in Bangladeshi currency (1 Swiss Franc is 91.83 BDT). In 2019, the amount of this money was Tk 5,668 crore. In other words, the amount of money from Bangladesh held by Swiss banks has decreased this year as compared to last year. The money laundered is equal to the paid-up capital of at least 10 private banks in Bangladesh.
