Government to import 5 lakh tons of wheat from Russia

Dhaka, September 1: Through the Ministry of Food, the government will import 500,000 tons of wheat from Russia at the G2G level at a cost of 21.5 crore US dollars (2,042.5 crore taka). Simultaneously, 300,000 tons of parboiled and parboiled rice will be imported from India and Vietnam. On Wednesday (August 31) noon, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal chaired the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement held virtually and approved three separate proposals in this regard.

One hundred tons of wheat was unloaded from the port on Thursday (August 25) from noon to evening. A company named Islam Agrobet Limited imported the wheat from India. M/s Khalifa Enterprise is doing customs clearing of Akhaura land port of wheat.

Bangladesh in talks with Russia for wheat import

Dhaka, June 23: Bangladesh is trying to import wheat from Russia again as prices are higher in other countries. Talks are underway between the governments of the two countries for an agreement in this regard. It is known that Bangladesh imports most wheat from India. But the country has already banned exports to meet domestic demand and control prices.
