People crowd at Banglabazar ferry ghat

Dhaka, May 10: Due to government ban, no ferry left Banglabazar Ghat in Madaripur for Shimulia in Munshiganj after 11am on Sunday. As a result, emergency vehicles and passengers heading to Dhaka were crowded at Banglabazar Ghat. As soon as the three ferries reached the Banglabazar Ghat from Shimulia at around 8 pm, the passengers stumbled. The three ferries left for Shimulia with about 3,000 passengers and hundreds of vehicles.

Govt. directive goes for a toss as two more ferries operate to contain homebound passengers

Dhaka, May 8: Two more ferries named Enayetpuri and Shah Paran from Shimuliaghat in Munshiganj have left for Banglabazar. A total of three ferries left Shimulia Ghat on the same day despite the ban. It is estimated that about 12,000 passengers have used the ferries.

Ferry services stopped during daytime

Dhaka, May 8: To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the BIWTC has stalled operation of ferries during the day at Paturia and Mawa ferry ghats from Saturday (May 8) as per government directives. This information was given by BIWTC on Friday (May 7) night.
