Three ferries have started plying on the Kanthalbari-Shimulia route on a trial basis.

On Friday morning, the ferry left Comilla and Faridpur ferries from Shimulia Ghat and reached Kanthalbari Ghat. Besides, the ferry from Kanthalbari Ghat leaves for Kakli Shimulia Ghat.

After about 22 days of stagnation, the ferry has started 3 trials on a limited scale. However, the speedboat movement is normal as before, but the launch is being damaged from time to time due to the naval crisis.

Transport drivers and passengers demanded that the wharf should be open from now on. Otherwise, the passengers of the southern region will suffer day after day.

Truck driver said. Hasmat Ali said the ferry was closed for a long time. I came to Kanthalbari Ghat from Barisal on 16th October. I had to stay at the wharf as there was no ferry service for so long. Almost all the money in his pocket has been spent sitting on the dock. Limited ferry service has started from this morning. Now I can reach Dhaka if I can cross the ferry.

BIWTA's Kanthalbari Ghat Manager Abdul Alim Mia said the ferry service had been closed for a long time on the instructions of the authorities. Now that the naval crisis has subsided, a limited number of experimental ferries have been launched.
