Dhaka, September 24: Health Minister Zahid Maleque has expressed hope that passengers travelling abroad will be able to get their coronavirus samples at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Saturday. He was speaking to reporters after inspecting the RT-PCR lab installation site at the airport on Thursday (September 23) afternoon.

"I personally came the day before yesterday and set up the place to set up the lab at the airport as soon as possible. Hopefully, the construction of the infrastructure will be completed by this evening (September 23). Several machines have also arrived. All the concerned officials of the health sector are working tirelessly for this. If all goes well, the expatriates will be able to go abroad without any hindrance by testing from these PCR labs on Saturday," he said.

Asked about the number of labs and how many can be tested in the labs daily, the health minister said 12 machines will be installed in six labs. At least three and a half to four thousand people can be tested every day through these labs. Here both Rapid PCR Lab for the fastest time test and RT PCR Lab for general testing will work here.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Private Medical College Association Anwar Hossain Khan MP, Director General of Health Department Prof ABM Khurshid Alam, Executive Director of Airport Authority and other officials were present at the occasion.
