Covid-19 Bangladesh bans entry without coronavirus negative certificate
Dhaka, December 5: Bangladesh has banned entry of travellers into the country without a Covid-19 negative certificate. The order came into effect from 12 am Saturday.
If an airline transports passengers without a certificate, its responsibility has to be borne by the concerned authorities. Not only that, disciplinary action will also be taken against the concerned airlines authorities. This was stated by several responsible officials of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Dr. Shahriar Sajjad, chief health officer at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said no passenger could enter the country without a Covid-19 negative certificate from 12:01 am on Saturday.
He added that in view of the decision taken at the inter-ministerial meeting on November 30, there was already strict monitoring of entry without a Covid-19 negative certificate. Ninety percent of the passengers would come with a Covid-19 negative certificate, but as coronavirus infections are on the rise in many countries around the world, including Europe, it has been decided to make Covid-19 negative certificate mandatory.
Meanwhile, a directive signed by CAA member (Flight Standards and Regulations) Group Captain Chowdhury Md. Ziaul Kabir said all passengers must be tested in the PCR lab within 72 hours before arriving in Bangladesh. They will be allowed to come to Bangladesh only if their coronavirus test comes out negative. Passengers at the airport must show that medical certificate.
Not only that, passengers arriving at the airport will have a medical screening including temperature tests. If any of the coronavirus symptoms are found during the screening, the passenger will be taken directly to the designated hospital and treated and sent to the isolation center, irrespective of a negative certificate. Those who do not have symptoms are instructed to return home and stay in quarantine for 14 days.
Diplomats from diplomatic missions in Bangladesh and their family members must also have a coronavirus test certificate in the PCR lab and must be tested within 72 hours of departure.
Foreign entrepreneurs and investors also have to show a COVID-19 negative certificate if they want to come to Bangladesh. But if they have symptoms of the virus, they will be sent to isolation centers and hospitals for further testing and treatment.
